Urbanspoon Urbanspoon is a website that provides information and reviews for restaurants. The restaurants are based on location. Well, they have taken this concept and created it into an application for the iPhone.

“We wanted to take advantage of the physicality of the iPhone, so we’re using the accelerometer,” said Urbanspoon co-founder Ethan Lowry. “So we’ve developed an application for the iPhone that’s part slot machine, part Magic 8-Ball.”

So far, the application includes restaurant information for 38 locations in the US and 3 in Canada. The best part is that it will be free. Check out the demo video below.

FlixwagonMore and more developers are preparing for the App Store. Along with that comes video demos. This demo comes from Flixwagon, a streaming video service. Like qik.com, Flixwagon is an app that allows you to stream live video from your iPhone to the web. The first video shows the iPhone streaming to the computer and the second video is the actual video taking by the iPhone during the demo. You are only limited by battery life for length of the stream. Video isn’t as high quality as hoped for, but hopefully that will improve.

biteSMS The update to biteSMS adds two languages; Italian and Dutch. It also changes the SMS counter, at the bottom of the screen, so that it displays the total credits it will use to send the text message. This has been changed to account for the ability to forward text messages to multiple contacts. Which does make more sense. I must say, I am still a big fan of this application. It is simple, easy-to-use and well developed. biteSMS is available through the BigBoss source.

Mariner Software is bringing a long awaiting application to the AppStore. Mariner Calc for the iPhone is an application that allows you to edit Excel documents right on your iPhone.

“According to Michael Wray, president of Mariner Software, the program is 80 to 90 percent complete and will include a number of impressive features, including the ability to view and edit Excel files in their native file format—no conversion needed. The CocoaTouch application will support spreadsheets up to 1,000,000 rows and 32,000 columns in size, as well as multiple sheets per document. It will even include support for charts and objects.

The application is not quite finished yet and there is no indication of how much is it going to cost however, I have a feeling this is going to be an anticipated application especially among the business realm. Continue reading »

iBlackList I have tested this application many times on many different version and have never done a reivew of it due to the fact that I did not think that it functioned well enough. Well, I am actually quite satisfied with version 1.9.1 of iBlackList. Below is a full review of the application. However, I am going to give a brief warning first. I have never used a call/sms filtering application that works completely perfectly and iBlackList is no exception. Please read this review and install at your own discretion.

iBlackList is an application that allows you to filter your incoming calls and text messages. After installing the application you will want to restart your iPhone. Do not skip this step… Continue reading »

'RemoteNote The update to RemoteNote 1.0.3 adds a new Restore feature. This allows you to restore notes from a previously saved backup. When you create a backup using the RemoteNote Backup option, you are able to save the backup to your computer as a .db file. Once you have created a back-up you can restore/jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch and when you are finished restoring, you can then create a note in your stock Notes application (you have to have at least one note created in your Notes application in order to connect to RemoteNote) and use RemoteNote to restore the rest of your previously backed-up notes. To do so, select Restore and then choose the .df back-up file you saved to your computer. I personally Continue reading »

Hudson Soft is creating three application that will be available via the AppStore - Bomberman Touch, Aqua Forest and Suduko. Bomberman and Sudoku are the classic games ported to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Aqua Forest is a collaborative work between Hudson Soft and Prometech Software. It is a “innovative software featuring the 2D multi physics engine ‘OctaveEngine™ Casual’.” Below is a description of the application and video demo.

Tilt and tip your handset to play the game with an accelerative sensor. As you advance through the game, trees grow rapidly! Draw a picture on the touch panel and use various effects (water dropping, fire, etc.) to change its shape. “OctaveEngine™Casual” makes entirely innovative gameplay possible!

Keynote During the WWDC last week, Apple gave out awards to the best deigned iPhone Applications. There were five categories; Best iPhone Game, Best iPhone Healthcare & Fitness Application, Best iPhone Social Networking Application, Best iPhone Entertainment Application and Best iPhone Productivity Application. Below are the results and I will have to agree with Apple…all these applications look aweseome!

Best iPhone Game
Enigmo Enigmo 1.0 - Pangea Software, Inc.
Enigmo for iPhone is a 3D puzzle game where players construct mechanisms to direct lasers, plasma, and water to toggle switches, deactivate force-fields, and eventually get them to their final destination. Originally the most unique game that Pangea Software ever created on Mac OS X, the new iPhone version brings the concept to a whole new dimension by taking full advantage of iPhone’s Multi-Touch interface for dragging and manipulating puzzle pieces, zooming in and out, and operating game controls. With gorgeous 3D scenes rendered with OpenGL ES and amazing 3D audio produced by Open AL, Enigmo 1.0 for iPhone delivers a phenomenally engaging and addictive game play experience to iPhone and iPod touch.

iToday The update to SkrewCommon version 1.39 makes some nice changes to iToday. My favorite part of the update is that both the box and the screen are now scrollable. In the previous version, only the screen was scrollable. This adds a ton of functionality to the application. However, it is a little tricky getting used to scrolling just the screen and not the boxes. You have to scroll near the top or on the right of the screen. After a little practice, it is no problem. Both SMS and Call History have been added to the lockscreen. It displays the Date, Time and Contact from the last 10 Texts and Calls you have received. It also displays Continue reading »

NOIZ2SA Version 1.1-2 of NOIZ2SA improves the overall game play of the application. The graphics have been updated as well as the menu. The changes to the menu are just visual, it still has 10 levels and four endless levels. The option to submit your score online has been removed from the application…it is no longer on the lower part of the mail menu. The updates to the graphics are really nice. The overall game plays much soother now (making it even more addicting!!)! The developer also added directional shooting, you can use this by Continue reading »

aMaze aMaze has been updated to version 1.2.2. With the update came a few bug fixes. also noticed in this version of amaze, that they have a new purplish/pink color scheme. I do not remember that from the last version. It is not a new color scheme, it is just my wallpaper showing through…my bad! Other than that, just a few bug fixes. aMaze is available through the Ste Packaging source.

WordClock WordClock is an application that displays the date and time in word format. When you open the application, you will see that it lists Sunday-Saturday, the first through the thirty-first, one through fifty-nine, am, pm, zero through fifty-two…in words. It will have the today’s date in read…ex; Sunday, the fifteenth of June. It will then have the exact time in red as well…ex; five thirty-six pm and twenty-three. It will change the seconds in real time. You can tap the screen to get into the Settings menu. From here you can change the Background, Foreground and Highlight color. The only issue with this is that you cannot see the color you are changing it to. It would be easier if there was a slider bar the displayed how you were affecting the color when you changed the Red, Green and Blue. The only other issue I have with this application is Continue reading »
