Matty I want to upgrade to 3.01 from 3.0 on my first gen...do I use red sn0w 08? Where do I get the firmware(u guys?) and do I need the baseband as well? My phone is already jailbroken and backed up on the new itunes. I dont want to loose anything. Thank you for your time!

To be honest it isn't worth you upgrading to 3.0.1, I would just wait until the windows jailbreak for 3.1 is out.

i TRIED USING PLRA1N FOR MY 3GS 3.1 FM. BUT IT DOES NOT WORK...WHAT CAN I USE ?

blackra1n for windows and also mac. Or you can use PwnageTool for mac

Successful 3.1.2 jailbreak in the end (4th attempt): ended up with Apps from iTunes not loading (everything else OK?!?!). So here's what i did: Deleted all iTunes Apps (made a list of all apps first) in iTunes & iPhone. Made a custom IPSW with Pwnagetool 3.1.4, chose do not activate, partition 1029 mB, install Cydia only. Previous to this I installed Rock app and made a backup of all Cydia apps, great tool. Now reinstalled iTunes apps from scratch after JB and 'I haz success' Oh and restore to new iPhone NOT backup !!

I'll need a couple of details before I can help you.
-Which iPhone is it? (2G, 3G or 3GS)
-What firmware have you updated to?
-Which OS do you have on your computer? (Windows or Mac)

my phone is 3g, but my friend updated and I dodn't know which firmware he did, how can I check?

Did your friend just click update/restore in iTunes because if he did then it will be on 3.1.2. Which will mean you can't unlock. You can only upgrade as far as 3.0.1 through iTunes directly to still unlock. Also there is only Windows methods that allow fake activation and unlock that work on 3.0.1. There is methods that work on 3.1+ but you can't fake activate or unlock. You will need to ask your friend exactly what he did when he upgraded.

I Have IPhone 3GS 3.0 jailbroken/unlocked. it was working fine.

1. last night, i was working in cydia and something happened. and my wifi connection lost. since then i could cnnect to any wifi. my phone is not showing any availibility. (wifi address is showing on setting/general/about)

2. I didon/off and reboot but problem didnt solved. when starting the phone now "No SIM card installed" message is comming. which disappears automatically and recognise my sim. i can recieve/make calls.

3. I cannot delete any aaplication from spring board which is installed thru installous etc. (its even exists before above problem)

4. there is no reset option in setting/general/ reset except resetting home screen. (its even exists before above problem)

please help
