iTunes sync

Postby Steve_Fury on Thu Jun 04, 2009 5:45 pm

Hi
I'd like to keep a copy of all the applications I've purchased on several computers, each with iTunes installed for backup. (Laptop, desktop etc)

I have an ATT issued iPhone G3 which is still locked.

I am able to sync all the applications on the desktop computer without problem. Other than my phone itself it's the only backup I have.

I'm having trouble syncing applications on my laptop. I've authorized the computer with Apple and when I choose "Applications > Sync Applications > All applications" it only copies 4 of my 23 purchased iPhone applications to the laptop, then promptly deletes all other purchased applications off of my iphone, leaving only those 4 remaining.

If not for having those apps on my other desktop computer, all those apps would be gone.

Having more than 1 or 2 backups is important to me and is there any way to do this?
I was thinking my iTunes was corrupt so I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it and have the same issue.

It's been a while since I've restored the OS on my laptop so I did that as well- same problem.

Am I doing something wrong?
Is there a way to have multiple backups of iphone apps ?

thanks in advance

On the computer with all of the apps on, right click any app the iTunes and then say show location I(I think it says that on windows) and all of the apps will be there in a folder. Make another copy of them on your desktop and put them into a ZIP. Using a memory stick/pen put the ZIP onto that and then plug into the computer without the apps. Unzip the folder and then drag all of the apps into iTunes and then you can sync your iPhone and none will be deleted.

Thank you SO very much for that helpful tip. With that one I'll be able to keep a backup out of itunes which is only a good thing.

I found all my apps in:
C:\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications\

I also found an alternative that worked once i had the iphone full again of the apps I want to send to my laptop iTunes is:
File > Transfer purchases from "(your) iPhone"

Have a wonderful day ! :)
